Using graph paper is going to be absolutely crucial for making the paper laces in these projects. You probably won’t be able to punch these designs accurately without it.



Handmade Heart Valentines Day Greeting Card With Vellum, Hand Stitching, Flourishes, Flowers and Paper Lace


Red White & Black “Heart” Valentine’s Day, Anniversary, Wedding, or Romantic Greeting Card

Card Measures 5.5” x 4.25”


How To Make the Paper Lace Border:

Top Layer: Cut a 1” band out of vellum using “Victorian” Paper Edgers (Fiskars). Punch the lace pattern using 5/16” Tear drop and ¼” Flower hand punches (Fiskars.)

Bottom Layer: Cut a 2.25” band out of red cardstock using “Victorian” Paper Edgers (Fiskars).

Stitch the top layer onto the bottom layer using white thread and 2 rows of narrow zigzag stitch. Punch tiny flowers using a very small flower punch. Attach the flower punches to the paper lace band.


How To Make the Greeting Card:



Layer a 5” x 3.75” piece of patterned paper on top of a 5.5” x 4.25” piece of patterned paper and attach to front of card. (both papers Carolee’s Creations.) Attach paper lace band to front of card. Stamp “Stitched Journaling” heart stamp (Autumn Leaves) onto red cardstock using black ink. Cut around the stamped heart with “Mini Scallop” Paper Edgers Decortive Scissors (Fiskars.) Color in the area between the “stitched” stamped heart and the scalloped edge using black marker (Zig.) Spritz the stamped heart with Java walnut ink (Tsukineko). Stamp Bella Flora Flower stamp (Inque Boutique) on patterned paper. Cut around the edges with “Mini Scallop” paper edgers. Punch a small flower punch. Glue punched flower to center of a silver button using Mod Podge (Plaid) or similar adhesive. (Zip Dry Paper Glue is another good choice). Attach decorated button to center of stamped flower. Attach stamped flower to stamped heart. Attach stamped heart to front of card.

How To Make the Paper Lace Border:



Top Layer: 1 ¾” band out of vellum using “Victorian” Paper Edgers (Fiskars). Punch the lace pattern using ¼” heart, ¼” flower, 1/16” circle, and 5/16” tear drop hand punches (Fiskars.)

Bottom Layer: Cut a 1 7/8” band out of red cardstock using “Victorian” Paper Edgers.

Sew the top layer onto the bottom layer using white thread and 2 rows of narrow zigzag stitch. Punch tiny flowers using a really small flower punch. Attach the flower punches to the paper lace band.


How To Make the Valentine Card:



Layer the following on top of the card base: a 7” x 5” piece of red cardstock, a 6.5” x 4.5” piece of patterned paper; and a 6” x 4” piece of patterned paper (both patterned papers by Carolees Creations.) Attach the paper lace band to front of card. Stamp Bella Flora Flower stamp (Inque Boutique) on patterned paper. Cut around the edges with “Mini Scallop” paper edgers. Punch a small flower punch. Glue punched flower to center of a silver button using Mod Podge (Plaid). Attach decorated button to center of stamped flower. Attach stamped flower to front of card.
